unanswered ODE/BULLET exploration example

I have tried the exploration example for both ODE and BULLET modules. I would really like to use this "picking" effect in my project. However, any of the examples show the expected behavior. In the case of the ODE example, everything works fine until I touch another non-static object with the object I am grabbing. The haptic devices vibrates too much and sometimes it feels as if the non-static object that was touched explodes.

In the case of the bullet example, the performance is even worse. Once you grab and object, the object starts rotating without control and the haptic devices vibrates way to much. In both cases I have played around with the physical parameters but nothing improved.

Did anyone have the some problem and could solve it?
